If you run a team, club, athletic department, or school program, you probably want Video Delay Instant Replay on several iPhones or iPads, not just one. This guide to Video Delay Instant Replay for schools and organizations explains how to license the app on multiple devices, why the usual Apple education channel does not work for subscription apps, and how to get set up.
Video Delay Instant Replay shows your live camera on a delay, so a player can run a drill and watch it play back seconds later without anyone pressing record or stop. You can step through a replay frame by frame or in slow motion, and feed it from the iPhone or iPad camera, a second iPhone or iPad kept in sync as a second angle, or an external camera such as a GoPro or an RTSP stream.
Coaches and programs around the world use the app, with clients ranging from professional teams in the US, including major league baseball, to schools in Australia.

Can a school buy Video Delay Instant Replay through Apple’s Volume Purchase Program (VPP)?
Short answer: no, and it is not specific to our app. Apple’s Volume Purchase Program, now part of Apps and Books in Apple School Manager and Apple Business Manager, is built for apps that are bought once and for certain one-time in-app purchases. It does not support auto-renewing subscriptions. Video Delay Instant Replay is a subscription app, so it cannot be purchased for your devices through VPP or your school’s Apps and Books credit.
This catches a lot of athletic directors and IT administrators by surprise, so if you have hit that wall, you are not doing anything wrong. There is a straightforward alternative.
How schools and organizations get the app: direct licenses
We offer direct licenses purchased straight from us, and they are available to organizations worldwide. A direct license lets your organization run the app on multiple devices, with an invoice you can pay by bank transfer or credit card, instead of a separate App Store subscription on each device. Direct licenses are sold annually, which lines up with a season or a school year, and we do not sell them monthly.
Direct licenses are a good fit for:
- Clubs and teams that want several sideline or court-side devices
- Schools and athletic departments equipping multiple iPhones or iPads
- Programs that buy through their own accounting and cannot use personal App Store accounts
How individual coaches subscribe (for comparison)
For a single coach or athlete, Video Delay Instant Replay is a subscription app, and you can try it free before subscribing, with no payment details and no auto-renewing trial to cancel. If you only need one device, you can simply subscribe in the App Store. The direct license is there for when you need to equip several devices.

Frequently asked questions
Does Video Delay Instant Replay work with Apple School Manager or VPP?
The app runs fine on managed iPhones and iPads, but the subscription itself cannot be bought through VPP or Apps and Books, because Apple does not sell auto-renewing subscriptions that way. Use a direct license instead.
Can we install it on multiple iPhones and iPads?
Yes. A direct license covers multiple devices in your organization, on iPhone or iPad.
Do we need a separate App Store subscription for each device?
No. Avoiding that is exactly what the direct license is for.
How do we pay?
We send you an invoice that you can pay by bank transfer or credit card, so it fits standard school and club accounting. If your district requires a purchase order first, we can work with that too.
Are licenses monthly or yearly?
Direct licenses are annual. We do not sell monthly organization licenses, since a yearly term fits a season or a school year and keeps the paperwork to once a year.
Can we try it before committing?
Yes. You can try the app free before any purchase, with no payment details required. Email us and we will help your program get started.
